Danielle Licari, Le chant de la Sirene

Danielle Licari as an international artist was born in 1969. According to some sources close to Danielle Licari, the composer Saint-Preux was working an a work for trumpet and strings when he overheard Danielle Licari who happened to be recording in the same building. Mr. Preux was deeply impressed by her voice and asked her to sing the melody composed originally for the trumpet. After some corrections to the melody the piece would be recorded and released in 1969 becoming the biggest success for both artists. Concerto pour une voix was the #1 radio hit and it would be the 13th most played song of 1969 in France. Her fame quickly spreded to Asia where she is known as the absolute Queen of scat singing. Her albums were sold for over 15 million copies and countries like Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Israel, Korea and Japan started to publish her recordings. In the begining of 1970's she had several concert tours where she visited all the main cities in Japan. Danielle Licari became a unique artist that would sell songs without words using an impresive, well developed technique to reach whistle tones and amazing trills, she is considered to be a pioneer in this type of hybrid music, combining orchestral music from the classical repertoir with pop-rock elements, even electronic sounds.
